About me
My name is Tim Bazin and, like you, I've committed my life to the service of the families that make our school a community. My perspectives on service are tempered by experiences growing up in a dysfunctional home and learning to make it on my own, an inclusive faith instilled by the Unitarian Universalist church, building a beautiful family, and crafting a career out of roles like coach, teacher, Head of Department, Subject Lead, Mission & Service Coordinator, CAS Coordinator, and MYP Service as Action Coordinator. I've had the honor of helping to found the Center for Nonviolent Solutions, which provides services to those most affected by domestic violence in Worcester, MA, USA, and I served as an Associate Member of the Board at the International School of Riga in Latvia where I worked with fellow parents to build a new campus. I came to the Republic of Korea in the Summer of 2022.
One of the things I struggle with is just how complicated the DP and MYP make service. In my opinion, it's rather simple: we serve because we care. And it all starts with teachers. Teachers must not only model and inspire authentic caring, but they must teach skills to make the world a better place. I want to help you think about service as a skill - as something that needs to be scaffolded and developed over years of instruction.
I hope to introduce you to my philosophy of "I Care, I Serve" - and will do some activities with the group like vision boarding, speed dating, and hopefully get you to see where you might fit within a larger culture of service.
